Why X-ray instead of LinkedIn search
LinkedIn caps what you can see and how many profiles you can open before it asks you to upgrade. Google has no such cap on public profile pages. An X-ray search reaches the same profiles from outside, which is why sourcers use it when a Recruiter seat is not available or has run out of views.
The trade-off is freshness. Google shows profiles as of its last crawl, so a very recent job change may not appear yet. For most sourcing that is acceptable; for job-change triggers it is not.
Country subdomains
LinkedIn serves profiles on country subdomains such as uk.linkedin.com and fr.linkedin.com. Setting one narrows results to people whose profile is served from that country, which is a sharper location filter than adding a city name to the query.
